Abraham (Abe) Poon is a cleantech entrepreneur and family office professional with a focus on commercializing state-of-the-art clean-tech in Asia. He is a venture and growth stage investor in software, biotech, and cleantech, with a bias towards impact, and has additional focus on alternatives such as private equity and hedge funds. Abe has a proven track record of innovation and execution, including developing multiple patentable technologies and business models, as well as building up a risk management division from scratch to vet high capex and high-risk project deployments. Abe's background in batteries, electric vehicles, grid-scale energy storage, artificial intelligence / machine learning, semiconductors, renewables, and alternative protein makes him a versatile entrepreneur with a deep understanding of the cleantech industry. He has worked in early-stage startup environments up until post-acquisition scale-up environments, and has experience as an employee #10 in a startup. Currently, Abe is a Board Observer at ampd energy, a company that provides energy storage solutions for commercial and industrial customers. He has also been an investor at Hyzon Motors, a leading global supplier of zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell powered commercial vehicles that has listed on NASDAQ. Abe was a Founder in Residence at Entrepreneur First, a startup accelerator that helps entrepreneurs build technology companies from scratch. Abe holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Materials Science & Engineering from Stanford University, an MBA from INSEAD, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Earth & Environmental Engineering from Columbia Engineering. He has a relevant experience of 8.10 years and has expertise in machine learning.
